Pilates is a safe, effective mind and body movement exercise for all ages to increase flexibility, improve posture and the overall feeling of well-being.

  • One hour of Pilates instruction per week and you will notice a difference.
  • One extra hour of Pilates per week at home and you will see the difference.
  • Two extra hours of Pilates per week at home and you will feel like a new person.

Joseph Pilates (1880-1967) left us with basic principle guidelines.   The Body Control Pilates method of breaking down fundamental exercises into small, understandable segments allows you to understand the movement and see how it relates to the bigger picture, encompassing these principles.  This system is safe, reliable, will improve your posture, and strengthen your core and spinal muscles.   This movement pattern works gently with your skeletal muscles to bring you the soundest and gentlest of workouts.

If your instinct is to say “no” to sweaty gyms, big apparatus, competitive situations with muscle loaded gurus, and a couch potato regime beckoning regularly, consider the alternatives.   A quiet, non-stressing environment, gentle moves suitable for your body type and ability, and an exercise regime that doesn’t feel like one;  this is waiting for you.   Body Control Pilates  movements through the Pilates One studio is the place for you.

And to continue your core strength through the warmer Ontario months, consider Urban Poling, otherwise known as Nordic walking.   Nordic walking combines an upper body technique similar to cross country skiing with the lower body technique of urban walking.

Pilates One is offering Urban Poling instruction during the warmer months with a focus on supporting Breast Cancer research and promoting the Halton Hills “Footsteps for Trees” programme.    With each purchase of a pair of Pink Poles a donation will be made to Breast Cancer research, and for each 10,000 strides with your Poles (approx. 8km)  Conservation Halton will plant a tree.

So, let’s get healthy, let’s support breast cancer research, and let’s get trees planted!
